Ayaka Hirahara (Singersong Writer)

My pursuing the path of a singer-songwriter was significantly impacted by the presence of my father, who is a saxophone player. I used to watch my father play on stage and think to myself “some day”. I started to play the saxophone when I was in the first grade of junior high school and proceeded into the Music Program at Senzoku Gakuen High School. I was slotted to take part in the musical “Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit” at the annual school festival, in which I sang the song “Joyful, Joyful” which awakened by desire for singing and triggered my debut. I majored in the Jazz Program at the university. My debut song “Jupiter” is an arrangement of an original music I heard in a class. What I learned in classes are useful for my current work. The opportunity to encounter wonderful instructors is a precious experience I treasure above all. I am grateful for the environment I am in, where I can feel the joy of doing what I want to do and to be immersed in music. I would invite everyone to try hard with happy expressions to steadily work towards realizing your dreams.

Natsumi Kon(Musical Actress)

I always wanted to be a musical actress since I was little and so I entered Senzoku High School and went onto the College of Music. I encountered a variety of fellow students and instructors through classes and auditions as well as performances at Senzoku Gakuen College of Music with substantial practice environments and performance opportunities. I passed the audition for Toho Entertainment during my second year and was selected to play the part of Juliet in “Romeo and Juliet” soon after, in spite of my being a rookie, which marked my debut. I was then able to realize my childhood dream, by playing the part of Eponine in “Les Misérables” in 2013. I had to struggle and endure the hardship in exploring how I could express Eponine but I persevered and this proved to be my challenge against myself. I intend to keep on trying so I can continue to shine in this world. Senzoku Gakuen College of Music is a university that backs up students who keep on driving towards their dreams. You must believe that “dreams do come true” and continue with your efforts.

Saori(Musician)

The expressions “it can’t be done” and “I don’t want to do it” are so similar that even when I am using them I am often not sure which of these really represent how I truly feel. In the past, I had said “it can’t be done” about things that in my heart I did not want to do. I have also used the expression “hate” to mean something I “don’t know”. There are so many such expressions that seem to be similar yet completely different, and I believe I can even fool myself by using the wrong expression. Communicating well with one’s own heart and carefully selecting expressions, I believe, also lead to respect and care for those around us as well as ourselves. That is what I believe. I hope you remain true to your heart, experience many things and spend a wonderful university student life.

Practice Building of Senzoku Gakuen College of Music is available for use from early in the morning until late at night, allowing students to conduct significant practices. You are likely to encounter wonderful fellow students there. Fellow students encourage and discipline each other to accumulate mountains of experience – that is something one can expect to encounter at Senzoku Gakuen. Another attractive feature is that a lot of instructions can be received from wonderful instructors. I received instructions on not just the trumpet, but also other musical instruments from a variety of instructors since I was a student. After graduating, and even now, I still continue to receive their care and am indebted to them. Encounters with fellow students and instructors are precious assets that last throughout our lives. I am certain that you too will have such encounters as you attend Senzoku Gakuen.

My encounters with trustworthy masters and the support of my fellow students with whom I had stimulating experiences helped me achieve the dream of becoming a contrabassist. My path to where I am currently has not been a smooth one, but I had many opportunities at Senzoku Gakuen that are hard to experience elsewhere. It is, however, up to each individual to capture opportunities that are available to all and to make them into something special. Persevere and never give up and get as close to the level of instructors as possible. There may be times when your feelings get weak and emotions get tired but the joy that comes after overcoming such obstacles will help you grow multiple folds. That in turn fuels your commitment to try once again to the next challenge. Each and every one of such experiences I had are invaluable treasures for me. I ponder the thought of performing on the stage I yearned for with instructors I respect while I am proud to be a graduate of Senzoku Gakuen. Hard work never betrays you. Make single minded efforts for music and trust yourself as you pursue your dream with a gung-ho attitude.

I am currently involved with the composition of music for dramas on television, as well as anime and commercials. I learned a lot from Professor Toshiyuki Watanabe while I was a student at Senzoku Gakuen and I believe that the skills that were improved back then are directly linked with the work I do now. Experiences gained have been utilized for a variety of processes, such as forming an orchestra or creating my work. I hope to continue enhancing my abilities and compose music of a diverse range of genres.
