Maintaining a firm focus at all times on the times we live in and on society, it is the aim of the College to create a school that is not bound by existing concepts or notions, and offer studies in a broad spectrum of educational fields, including classical music, of course, but also embracing such new realms of music as jazz and digital music.

3Electronic Organ

Open up a path to becoming a professional through hands-on learning.

Electronic Organ

Create a collaboration with various musical instruments by making use of the electronic organ’s orchestral sound functions.
By carrying out various practical courses, such as exercises involving modern arrangements and original works, as well as training to obtain grades, students are nurtured to become educators or professional musicians who are not restricted by the boundaries of a particular genre.

4Wind Instruments

Expressive skills are refined through not only individual lessons, but also by playing in every performance style, including concert band, chamber music, and orchestra. Moreover, professional musicians from Japan and abroad who are active at the forefront of the world’s music serve as visiting professors, providing various types of instruction, such as open lessons.

5String Instruments

Students refine their sense for music and playing techniques in an unsurpassed music environment.

String Instruments

A team of lecturers from Japan and abroad who are top-class players of each instrument help students develop their sense for music and playing technique.
Furthermore, students are able to refine their playing abilities in an ensemble by experiencing various performance styles, such as chamber music, string ensemble, and orchestra.

6Percussion Instruments

Intensively thorough individual tutoring develops the talents of each and every student.

Percussion Instruments

Percussion instruments, of which there are more than 800 known types around the world, are indispensable to performing a very wide variety of genres of music.
The study of percussion instruments here is undertaken from both the playing aspect of these instruments as well as the academic research aspect. Various concerts featuring percussion instruments in the principal role are also held.

7Vocal Music

Nurture students to become vocalists who have a rich power of expression and a great sense of presence.

Vocal Music

Students spend four years in the step-by-step study of five fields in which the voice is the means of musical expression: solo, ensemble, song, opera, and chorus. In addition, lessons are provided to help learn skills needed for stage performers, such as physical training, voice training, and manners.

8Composition

Open up a path to becoming a true composer who is capable of touching the emotions of people.

Composition

Students not only acquire composition skills in lesson-type classes, but also study the characteristics of various musical instruments and their combinations, as well as analyze musical works, and present their own compositions.

10Music Therapy

Cultivate music therapists, who are essential in today’s society.

Music Therapy

In collaboration with the Nordoff-Robbins Center for Music Therapy, which is a part of the graduate school at New York University, research with an international perspective is carried out. A large number of music therapists possessing proven skills have been produced.

11Music Education

The Music Education Major nurtures students to enable them to become not only music teachers at schools, but also professionals who are capable of teaching music in a local community as a part of its lifelong education programs. To meet the needs of society, the Major has established its own original curriculum, providing courses, such as computer music, that are suited to the new era.

13Music Design

Study the latest in music and sound technologies in an ideal environment.

Music Design

The objective of this Major is to cultivate students to become composers, arrangers, sound creators for visual media, recording and PA engineers. Through a collaboration with acoustic instruments, original musical expression that exceeds the boundaries of any particular genre is fostered.

14Jazz

Under the guidance of musicians who are active in the music world, nurture students to become first-rate players.

Jazz

Senzoku Gakuen was the first music college in Japan to establish a Jazz Major. Since then, Senzoku Gakuen has been offering a curriculum, which includes one-on-one lessons and clinics, to enable students to refine their playing skills and broaden their knowledge of jazz. Students can also study at Berklee College of Music in the United States, which is affiliated with Senzoku Gakuen.

15Japanese Traditional Music

Nurture players of traditional Japanese music who are in step with contemporary times.

Japanese Traditional Music

Japanese Traditional Music looks into various styles of music works, ranging from classical to modern pieces, and aims to develop innovative players of Japanese traditional music who are able to proficiently handle classical music notation as well as staff notation.

17Rock and Pops

Originality, the factor that is absolutely essential to a musician, is nurtured in one-on-one lessons, while students gain experience in playing as a member of a team by performing in band ensembles. In addition, students are given the opportunity to learn and absorb the very best of rock and pop music through recording and live performances.
